GIGGS AND McEWEN RELEASED AS MOSSLEY SIGN NEW KEEPER

24/05/06

Mossley manager Jason Beckford has released two members of his championship winning squad, the most notable of which is striker Rhodri Giggs.

Giggs made 101 appearances for the Lilywhites and scored 31 goals in 2 1/2 seasons with the club. His last Mossley goal being Mossley's final goal of the 2005/06 season at Gresley.

He was Suppporters player of the year in 2004/05 and the first recipient of the Mossleyweb Dennis Cawthorne Memorial Trophy in the same season. A big fans favourite in his time at Seel Park it will be a surprise to many that a player of such obvious quality has been released.

Also departing Seel Park is goalkeeper Sam McEwen. The former Stockport County junior made just 8 appearances last season as understudy to the vastly experienced Lee Bracey after arriving from the 'Hatters' last close season.

Arriving at Seel Park is keeper Danny Trueman (23) from Wakefield-Emley. Trueman (pictured) was formerly with Ashton United but signed for the Yorkshire club in March 2005. He began his playing career with Southampton and has also been on the books of Huddersfield Town.
