Mossley manager Chris Willock has acted quickly to replace injured central defender Nick Boothby and has signed giant Witton Albion centre back Liam Coyne.

Coyne (21) was previously with Bolton Wanderers, Leigh RMI, FC United of Manchester,  Winsford United, Warrington Town and Chorley.

The towering 6' 6" central defender signed for Witton in the summer after making 25 appearances for Chorley in the latter half of last season. He previously played under Willcock at Winsford where he was on loan from FC United of Manchester and helped Willock's side to the North West Counties 2nd Division title in 2007, also earning a NWCL Player of the Month prize for his performances.

He began his career at Bolton Wanderers before switching to Leigh RMI, where he played in the Football Conference.

Signed for Warrington Town at the beginning of last season before a move to Chorley, where he made 25 appearances.

Coyne made an impressive debut in the FA Cup win at Kendal yesterday and was Kendal's match sponsors 'Man of the Match' for Mossley.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool and Crewe midfielder Phil Charnock has been released after struggling with travelling from his Ormskirk home. He is also currently considering retirement. The experienced play maker made just 5 appearances for Mossley, scoring 1 goal (a superb free kick against Halifax).
