One in, two out for Mossley

For the third time in a month Mossley have raided troubled Leigh Genesis and have now signed highly rated left wing back Alex Mortimer. Mortimer joins his former Leigh team-mates Reece Kelly and Matty Berkeley at Seel Park

Left sided defender or midfielder Mortimer, who will be 26 at the end of this month, joined Leigh in the close season, After spending time as a schoolboy at Manchester United, Mortimer began his professional career with Leicester City, including loan spells with Shrewsbury Town and Gainsborough Trinity before spending a successful two seasons with Southport, where he made 23 first team appearances, while more recently appearing in the UniBond League for Curzon Ashton and FC United of Manchester.

Leaving Mossley are midfielders Mitch Bailey and Dave Hanlon. Former Huddersfield Town player Bailey has found commuting from University in Preston difficult and has signed for Rossendale United while Dave Hanlon who has failed to command a regular place in the Mossley team has signed for Chorley.

Meanwhile, Danny Dignan has returned to full training following his rib injury though top scorer Mike Fish is still struggling to shake off a chest infection that has plagued him for several weeks. Close season signing Matt Haley is also approaching fitness after a lengthy lay-off.
