Quinn departs, Willcock is appointed

05/06/08

Gerry Quinn has departed as Mossley manager by mutual consent after failing to agree terms for next season. He has been quickly replaced by former Mossley player Chris Willcock who has been manager of Winsford United and Woodley Sports in recent seasons.

As a player Willcock played for Flixton, Warrington Town, Netherfield (Kendal Town), Leigh RMI, Mossley and Ramsbottom United before becoming player coach at Salford City. He was then NWCL 2nd Division Manager of the Year in 2006/07 after gaining promotion with Winsford United. Last season was spent at Woodley before internal wranglings precipitated his departure from Lambeth Grove.

As a Mossley player, striker Willcock made 96 appearances scoring 34 goals between 1997/98 season and 2000/01 under the management of Benny Phillips. He was a key player in the Mossley side that narrowly lost out on promotion to Workington in 1999.
