New coach joins Lilywhites

Lee Merricks

Mossley manager Chris Willcock has brought in a new coach in former Leigh Genesis manager Lee Merricks.

Merricks (29) was forced to give up playing football at an early age due to a serious ankle injury, but took up coaching instead and has been on the coaching staff at both Wigan Athletic and Manchester United.

He had a spell last season as team manager of Leigh Genesis and began this season as assistant manager to Steve Waywell at Chorley.

Things didn't work out at Victory Park and he joins Mossley with high credentials and excellent coaching abilities.

On the playing front both Lee Blackshaw and Dave Brooke have both now left the club. Blackshaw had missed most of the pre season due to work commitments and has joined Glossop North End. Brooke has gone in search of regular football after spending much of last season on the Mossley bench.

Arriving at Seel Park is 21 year old striker Kayleme Baxter who was last season banging in the goals for Manchester League champions Gregorians.
