The season begins in earnest for Mossley on Saturday when Bamber Bridge visit Seel Park for a 3 pm kick off in what is the Lilywhites first competitive game of the 2012/13 Evo-stik Northern Premier League season.

Mossley have enjoyed a promising pre season with Manager Steve Halford, Assistant manager Peter Band and the coaching staff working hard to taget the right players to give Mossley a successful season. Halford has made eight signings to augment the squad with a further twelve players returning from last term's side that finished the season so well.

In what is proving to be a strong defence Halford has retained skipper Dave Young, highly promising big centre back Keil O'Brien plus the hugely experienced managerial pair of Haford and Band have both re-signed. Wing backs Cavell Coo, Ben Richardson, Kayde Coppin and Ben Fallows have also all re-signed along with highly rated goalkeeper Martin Pearson and his able young deputy Xavier Parisi.

The new arrivals are all midfield players and strikers. Midfield playmaker Gary Gee (age 25), has spent his entire playing career to this point at Woodley Sports where he has earned a reputation as a quality footballer at this level and will no doubt play an important role in the Mossley engine room.

Chris Rowney returns for a second spell at Mossley after a season with the newly rebranded Stockport Sports. The former oldham Athletic professional is seen as an important addition having impressed greatly in his first spell with the club.

The hard working and extremely versatile Jay Gorton arrives after seven years with Glossop North End and he is joined from the same club by striker Sam Hind. Both players, along with skipper Dave Young, played for Glossop at Wembley Stadium in the 2009 FA Vase Final and both players spent seven years with the Hillmen. Hind was Glossop's top scorer last season with 24 goals hile Gorton chipped in with 12.

Another quality midfielder is Ash Young who has just returned from playing professionally in Australia. The former Bury, Falkirk and Hyde FC midfielder is another highly rated player.

Brad Yearwood is a tough tackling defensive midfielder who has impressed in pre season having previous experience with Accrington Stanley and Woodley Sports.

Former Glasgow Celtic and Gretna striker Nathan Taylor has returned after playing several games for Mossley last season and he has also enjoyed a promising pre season. He is joined by experienced forward Gavin Salmon who has been top scorer at Warrington Town for the last two seasons and played previously for Mossley back in the 2004/05 season. Exciting livewire striker Sam madeley has signed after a spell with Hyde FC. He was previously with Ashton United and Nantwich Town.

Bamber Bidge, Mossley's opponents on Saturday, have made signings of their own, including former Mossley wing man Steve Settle who was with Curzon Ashton last season. Central defender Kevin Brown has arrived from Clitheroe and former Fleetwood Town and AFC Fylde forward Lennie Reid. Bamber Bridge manager Neil Crowe has however retained much of last seasons squad hoping to improve on last season's 10th place finish.

Following Saturday's game, Mossley then travel to Birkenhead to face Cammell Laird before returning to Seel Park on Saturday 25th August when the Lilywhites entertain North West Counties Leaguers Bootle in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.
