Luke McCarthy

Mossley have signed speedy right winger Luke McCarthy from neighbours Droylsden.

McCarthy (age 20) came through the Bury FC youth setup having begun as a junior with manchester City. He was named as a substitute on various occasions for the first team during his two seasons as a full professional at Bury. His first year as a pro saw a spell on loan at Conference side Grimsby Town where he made six appearances.

He was released by Bury in January of this year and spent the remainder of the season with Airbus UK Broughton in the Welsh Premier League helping them to earn a place in this season's Europa League qualifiers.

He left Airbus in the close season to find a club nearer home and signed for Droylsden but has failed to settle with the struggling Bloods and is now set to add a new dimension to a resurgent Mossley.
