MATTHEW FOR MOSSLEY
LILYWHITES SIGN EX UNITED YOUNGSTER

Mossley have signed former Manchester United youth player Matthew Wilkinson.

Defender Matthew, who turned 19 just last week, was one of 12 youth contract players released by the Old Tafford club at the end of last season alongside Kenji Gorre, Ben Pearson, Jonny Sutherland, Jack Rudge, Joe Rothwell, Declan Dalley, Louis Rowley, Donald Love, Liam Grimshaw and Josh Harrop and Patrick McNair. David Moyes felt they had no future at the club, and felt it would be better to release them now to give them the chance of success at another club.

The Manchester born youngster had been with United since 2002 as a 7 year old, working his way through the junior ranks he was part of the the Academy U18 squad in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 squads.

Matthew briefly (and understandably) fell out of love with the game following his release by United, but has now regained his passion and signed for Mossley at training on Thursday evening after impressing in both sessions last week.
