FA's TOP AWARD IS NEXT TARGET-AFTER MERGER

Mossley AFC are proud to announce that they are expanding next season with the addition of five new teams to run alongside the existing Evo-Stik NPL outfit’s first team.

The club are merging with Mossley Athletic Junior Football Club, who will bring their under-7’s, 8’s, 10’s and 12’s teams to play under the ‘Mossley AFC’ banner.  In addition the club are also introducing an open aged ladies team.

The junior and ladies teams will join the senior team and all will play as ‘Mossley AFC’ from the start of the forthcoming 2014/15 season.  This merger is hoped to be the beginning of even bigger things in the future as the club has ambitions to expand, with a widening offer of football for all, to obtain the FA’s leading Charter Standard award as a Community Club.

Club secretary Harry Hulmes stated: "The club are delighted to bring the junior and ladies teams on boardto play as part of the town football club. We are confident this new partnership will be a great step forward not only for players of all abilities but for the town as a whole”. The junior teams will still be overseen by Mossley Athletic JFC founder Richard Vink, but now each team will proudly wear the Mossley AFC club badge.

The ladies team is a brand new concept for the club with former Mossley Athletic JFC man Ryan Smith taking charge and bringing this exciting opportunity to the club. The club has been awarded a ‘Growing the Game’ grant by the FA’s Football Foundation to develop female football over the next three seasons.

The advantages of this merger is that it gives a solid football base for all players, coaches and volunteers to progress, with in particular a potential pathway for juniorplayers to the first team. The merger also will benefit the community as a whole, as the larger club starts to organise a multitude of different events based around SeelPark.

It is exciting times at the club at the moment and any junior or lady wishing to join the ranks, should simply contact the club at info@mossleyfc.com .
