LEES RETURNS TO HIS ROOTS

The latest addition to the Mossley squad is experienced defender Mark Lees.

Mark (age 31) started out at Mossley Juniors before joining Stalybridge Celtic's academy side.

On leaving the Celtic academy, he joined New Mills for a season, and then Buxton.

Mark then joined Ashton United in 2009. It wasn't long before this versatile defender was moving up the football pyramid, and he joined Hyde United, for whom he was a regular.

He then made 30 appearances for Altrincham before returning to Stalybridge Celtic.

He joined Stockport County in 2013 and was appointed team captain.

He moved to AFC Telford United in 2015 before again re-joining Stalybridge Celtic.

After a spell out of the game, he re-joined Celtic on dual registration with Ashton United in 2019 to get game time after recovering from a facial injury, before rejoining Celtic for the 2019/20 campaign.

Meanwhile Simon Lenighan has departed to Premier Division side Buxton after making 22 appearances for Mossley.
