Harry Jackson was a centre forward who played for Darwen prior to WWII and then Accrington Stanley, Burnley, Watford and Tottenham Hotspur during the war years, before signing for Manchester City in 1946 making 9 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
He joined Preston North End (18-5) the following season.
He scored 4 goals in 4 Mossley appearances in the 1948/49 season and also played one first team game for Blackburn Rovers in the same season.
In 1949/50 he played for Chester (21-10) followed by spells with Hyde United, Ashton United, Nelson and Clitheroe.

Albert Jackson was a young centre forward who converted to become a tough tackling centre half. He began his career as a junior with Manchester United before joining Oldham Athletic early in 1963. He joined Mossley for the first time under Don Wilson’s management in a loan spell in March 1963 making 2 appearances before returning to the Latics. He then went on to make 22 first team appearances over the course of the following two seasons, scoring 4 Football League goals. He was released by the Latics and moved to Bangor City in 1966 and was a regular in the heart of the Bangor defence for the next six years before moving to Wigan Athletic in 1972. Three years at Wigan saw Jackson run up 108 appearances scoring 27 goals whilst helping Wigan to the Northern Premier League title in 1974/75. Jackson signed for Mossley for a second time, this time under the guidance of Bob Murphy, in November 1975 following a brief return to Bangor City. He made his Mossley debut in a 2-2 draw against Runcorn in the FA Trophy on 29th November 1975. Jackson went on to play 90 games in two seasons for Mossley scoring 2 goals (ironically both his goals came in the same game, a 6-2 win over Worksop Town in February 1976). Jackson formed a strong central defensive partnership at Mossley with ex Football League star Roy Ellam during his time at the club. Jackson also spent the closed season's of 1974 and 75 playing in the USA for Dallas Tornado in the NASL with some success. He remained at Mossley when Howard Wilkinson replaced Murphy in December 1976 but transferred to Droylsden at the end of the season, playing the final two seasons of his career for the Bloods. Jackson could and would tackle a runaway rhino, especially if he looked like threatening the goal. Also a menace in the opposition box at set pieces, a genuine character who became very well known in non league circles in the North West.

He made his League debut in their 4-0 win at home to Swansea in September 1936, He joined Mossley in August 1937 and after leading the line superbly, scoring almost a goal a game he was transferred to Chelsea for a £200 fee. He joined Swansea Town in May 1947. Dai James helped Swansea win the 1947 London Combination Cup final. Scoring on his Football League debut at Bristol City four months later, he netted 7 goals in 12 League games before joining Haverfordwest in August 1948 where he became captain, then manager.

He went on to make 107 appearances over 3 seasons, scoring 19 goals also winning 2 player of the year awards and helping the Rebels to two successive play off finals. After a six month spell at Nantwich Town he joined Hyde United in 2015. Over two seasons, he made 42 appearances and scored twice with a spell at Shaw Lane Aquaforce sandwiched between. Since 2016 he has had further spells with Stalybridge Celtic, Trafford, Hyde United and Glossop North End. He was voted Mossley Supporters Player of the Year in 2018/19. David Ronald Jones signed professional forms for Everton in May 1974 after serving his apprenticeship at Goodison Park. He went on to make 86 appearances in defence for Everton before a £250,000 transfer to Coventry City in June 1979 but he only made 3 appearances before departing for a spell in Hong Kong with Seiko FC. Returning in August 1983 he signed for Preston North End and made 50 appearances up to the end of the 1984-85 season. He had the perfect physique and boundless enthusiasm but lacked the necessary finesse to become a top-class defender. A former captain of England youth, he was the subject of much optimism at Everton and subsequent Under-21 international honours revealed that independent judges nourished similar hopes. However, regular exposure to First Division football highlighted too many technical shortcomings. He arrived at Mossley in 1988 as assistant manager to Bryan Griffiths. While with Mossley he made two appearances as a player. He followed Griffiths to Southport in 1990 and later became assistant to Danny Bergara at Stockport County and stepped up to manager following his departure. Later becoming manager of Southampton before problems in his personal life forced him to quit football. He returned to the game in December 2000 as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers Wolves lasted only one season in the Premier league though and following a shaky start to life back in the championship, Jones was sacked in November 2004. Jones was appointed manager of Cardiff City and led them to Wembley in the FA Cup Final in May 2008 where they lost 1-0 to Portsmouth. In 2010 Cardiff reached the Play off final but were beaten by Blackpool and in 2011 lost in the play off semi final to Reading and that defeat cost him his job as he was sacked in May 2011. Jones was appointed as manager of Sheffield Wednesday on 1st March 2012 following Gary Megson’s surprise dismissal and Jones led Wednesday to promotion from League One. After a three-year absence from management, he was appointed manager at Hartlepool United in January 2017.

Tommy Jones	1922/23 1923/24 1924/25 1925/26 1926/27 1927/28	186	76	Manchester United Oldham Athletic Accrington Stanley Stockport County Macclesfield Mossley (186-76)	A Welshman by birth from Rhos near Wrexham, Tommy Jones enlisted in 1914 in World War One serving in France and was involved in the retreat from Mons gaining a medal for this engagement. He served three years in Flanders at the rank of sergeant and having been shot returned home to the hospital which had been set up at Heaton Park, Manchester. In the 1918/19 season he was on the books of Manchester United and 1919/20 he moved to Oldham Athletic. He joined Macclesfield part way through the 1920-21 season via brief spells with Accrington Stanley and Stockport County, partnering Collinson and Rourke playing with resourcefulness and calculated skill. His inexhaustible energy and steady play served the team well as did his ability to move forward scoring a few goals along the way. On leaving Macclesfield he signed for Mossley in the summer of 1922 where he remained for six seasons scoring an impressive 76 goals in 186 appearances.

Wayne Joynes	1989/90 1990/91 1991/92 1994/95 1995/96 1996/97 1997/98	199	20	Chadderton Mossley (81-7) Chadderton Oldham Town Mossley (118-13) Salford City	Versatile hard grafting player signed by Mark Hilton from Chadderton in December 1989 and was voted Mossley Player of the Year in the 1990/91. He was surprisingly transferred to Chadderton in December 1991 but following a spell with Oldham Town he re-signed for Mossley under Roy Soule in November 1994. He was again voted Mossley supporters Player of the Year in Mossley's first season in the North West Counties League in 1995/96 under Kevan Keelan's management but left Mossley for the last time when he departed to Salford City in the closed season of 1998 after making a total of 199 Mossley appearances and scoring 20 goals.

He made 6 appearances under Steve Taylor's management the following season and one appearance as a substitute under Roy Soule in 1994/95. He was later manager of Wirksworth Town FC.

Died in Dundee 1st January 1982 Albert ‘Julie’ Juliussen was born in Blyth in Northumberland in 1920 and was the son of Norwegian parents. He played for Cramlington Black Watch before joining Huddersfield Town as an apprentice just before the War making 2 appearances for Mossley in the war time season of 1939. During the War, Julie served in the Black Watch as a PT Instructor and was posted to Dundee and then to Perth. He was soon spotted by the local clubs and in one incredible army game he scored six goals in the first half for his side to lead 6-0 at half time. 45 minutes later it was 6-5 and Juliussen had scored all eleven having been ordered to switch sides at half time. He ended up guesting for Dundee United for four wartime seasons. He was to become a local goal scoring legend and thrilled everyone with his howitzer shooting and willingness to shoot on sight. He scored a record six goals in a match for United in a North Eastern League fixture v St Bernards. 83 goals in 70 matches was to be his Tannadice haul. When the War ended he returned to Huddersfield Town.Julie wasn’t back at Leeds Road for long as Dundee had seen at first hand his prowess at Tannadice. A £2,000 fee brought Julie to Dens Park for season 1945/46 despite Aberdeen also trying to secure his signature. He was equally as prolific with the Dark Blues. Cowdenbeath being one of the clubs that suffered at his hands with a ten minute hat-trick. The first time he got the ball on his debut v East Fife he flashed the ball into the net. 89 goals in two and a half seasons was to be his goal haul – again he scored more than a goal a game. In one match v Alloa he knocked out ex-Cowden goalkeeper Frank Harper 3 times with shots which all ended up in the back of the net. His most famous feat came when he scored 6 goals in a 10-0 win over Alloa at the Recs only to follow this up with 7 in a 10-0 home win over Dunfermline just a week later. The Dunfermline goalkeeper at one point saw Juliussen bearing down on him and stepped out his way saying ‘You can have it’.Inevitably English eyes looked north and Portsmouth then one of the top side sin England paid £11,000 for his transfer. Fratton Park though was not to see the same fireworks from Julie as had been on show in Dundee. He played in only a handful of games and was decidedly not a success. He quickly moved on to Everton with the papers reporting that Juliussen’s Pompey problems were that ‘the rather relaxing Southern climate is believed to be the reason why he has not settled down as expected’. His equally brief Everton career led to him being dubbed by some as Everton’s worst ever signing. However, he was suffering from injury problems and was actually advised to give up the game albeit he refused to do so. Sometime later it was recorded that ‘During his brief stay at Fratton Park, Albert's team-mates were successively amazed, amused and abashed by their new striker's maidenly reluctance to disrobe in their presence. Even in the communal bath, it seems, he insisted on keeping his football socks on! Eventually, the dreadful truth emerged: varicose veins!’ Everton wrote of their sizeable investment and released Julie who returned to his native North East as player/manager of Consett. There was life in the old dog yet though and he returned to Scotland after a fashion by joining Berwick Rangers where Bobby Ancell’s side had just been elected to the Scottish League ‘C’ Division. He was soon a firm local favourite. There was then a brief unsuccessful return to Dundee United before a final fling in ‘C’ Division with Brechin City. Brechin were top of ‘C’ Division when Julie joined in 1954 with 3 games to play. Montrose were easily seen off but a trip to Methil offered a stern test. Julie scored the only goal of the game to give Brechin the points v East Fife ‘A’. 400 fans travelled then for the vital match v Celtic ‘A’ which attracted an 11,000 crowd. One again it was Julie who scored the only goal to secure the title and Division ‘B’ status for Brechin City. He later admitted it was a fluke when he ball struck the back of his head and went flying into the net. It was a good way to end his senior footballing days.
