Mossley Reserves enjoyed a comfortable win over Lancashire & Cheshire Leaguers Burnage Metro to win a place in the 2nd round of the Manchester FA Amateur Cup at Seel Park this afternoon.

If there was a downside to the performance it was that the Lilywhites seconds didn't achieve double figures in what was a near total mismatch. That they didn't was due to a number of good saves by Metro keeper Joe Cavanagh and more than one bizarre miss by the Mossley strikeforce.

It took Mossley 15 minutes to open the scoring after already having missed a hatful of chances, Antony Dorney having two opportunities to give Mossley an early lead and skipper Remi Salisbury heading narrowly wide from a corner before Dorney crossed from the right for Ben Mcnamara to head into the path of Wes Harney who was left with a simple close range tap in.

The second goal came in the 27th minute when Alex Byrne played a great one-two with Dorney to slot home from ten yards.

Dorney was then unlucky not to score when his thunderous half volley came back off the post with the keeper well beaten, but, two minutes later the game was just about over as a contest, if indeed it had ever been one. McNamara saw his shot parried by Cavanagh and Nathan Tosum was first to react to sidestep the keeper from the rebound and tap home.

Mossley made it four in the 39th minute when Dorney ran onto Tosum's through ball to effortlessly walk the ball around the shellshocked visitors keeper.

A rare Burnage break a minute later saw debutant keeper Joe Potts bring down Worthington in the box and despite getting a full hand to Paul Costello's powerful spot kick he was unable to prevent the visitors reducing the deficit.

It was a rare blip though as Mossley restored the four goal cushion a minute later. A superb dribble by Wes Harney beat several defenders before presenting Tosum with a simple close range tap-in.

As the half came to a close Mossley were twice denied blatant looking penalties when Dorney was brought down in the box in two seperate incidents only moments apart.

The second half was a near non event by comparison as Mossley eased off the gas but Alex Byrne was unlucky to see his 25 yarder come back off the underside of the bar after it had appearaed to cross the line before being headed clear.

Raducio King then scored twice in a three minute spell with near identical goals. Both efforts set up by Man of the Match Nathan Tosum who threaded passes down the left channel for King to slot home.

King missed the chance of a hat-trick near the end when he brilliantly rounded the keeper only to get under his shot and the ball sailed over an empty net.
