Mossley Reserves visited Formby Reserves and both teams showed great desire to win, both playing excellent football.

Mossley were the better team in the first half, playing and creating good chances, one of which fell for Matty Nee after 13 minutes when he rounded the keeper only to hit the ball over the bar.

Joe Heap continued to torment the Formby defence and his endeavour paid off when he created the first goal laying a pass on for Mike Brickhill who hit the ball into the top corner after 30 minutes to give Mossley the lead.

Mossley scored another goal when Joe Heap hit a shot hard and low into the corner of the net only for the ball to go straight through the net, the referee judged that it wasn’t a goal. When he inspected the net at half time he saw the gap in the net, but unfortunately too late.

Mossley came out in the second half and killed the game off within the first 5 minutes. Nathan Tosum scoring an excellent individual goal, showing good close control before smashing the ball past the keeper from a fine angle to make it 2-0 after only 2 minutes of the second half.

It soon became 3-0 when Joe Heap left three players in his wake before he placed the ball in the path of Matt Nee who had an easy job of side footing the ball past the keeper.

It was a comfortable win but credit should be given to Remi Salisbury and Mike Jones who were both outstanding in the centre of the defence. Remi only just edging Mike for man of the match.

This was an excellent performance from the young Mossley reserve team which keeps them in joint second place in the League.
