Mossley Reserves were unlucky not to take maximum points from this game at Witton Albion despite having substitute Matt Chadwick sent off for a mis-timed tackle less than five minutes after coming on the field.

Mossley bossed the game in the first half playing some neat and clever football with Raducio King prominant on the left. His pace and skill causing the home defence a number of problems.

Brad Byrne was unlucky not to score when he opened the Albion defence early on and Mark Connor also went close with an early chance.

Mossley took the lead in the 25th minute when former Sheffield FC player Billy Dempsey's left wing corner was fumbled by home keeper Joe Brobbin and Mike Jones scored from close range.

Mossley deservedly doubled the advantage on 39 minutes when Brad Byrne's run and cross down the right was bundled home by Mark Connor.

Witton, who had barely troubled the Mossley rearguard in the first half, unexpectedly pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time when Jon Munson headed home from a right wing corner.

Six minutes into the second half and the home team were level with Munson capitalising on hesitancy in the Mossley defence to score from ten yards.

A great run by King nearly put Mossley back in front and Brad Byrne struck the left hand post as the ball broke to him when King was well tackled.

Matt Chadwick replaced Mark Connor as Mossley pushed for a winner but the red card brought an early end to his contribution leaving ten man Mossley to soldier on regardless.

Witton were unable to take advantage of their extra man and it was Mossley who looked the more likely winner with several goal attempts blocked or saved.
