Mossley Reserves bizarrely threw away a 4-0 half time lead at AFC Fylde on a very windy Kellemargh Park on Monday night.

A young Mossley reserve side took the home side apart in a thoroughly one sided first period, playing some superb football, scoring four very well taken goals.

Both sides had early chances with Fabio Abreu firing narrowly wide for Mossley while the home side also had a couple of early chances.

Mossley took the lead in the 12th minute. Some neat midfield interplay finished with Ben McNamara firing home a low shot from outside the box into the bottom corner.

Four minutes later Mossley doubled their lead when Fabio Abreu headed home Mike Brickhill's right wing cross.

The game settled down and Mossley took control with wingers Brickhill and Jordan Cuff causing Fylde a lot of problems with their pace and movement.

The half ended with Mossley bagging two more goals. Abreu added his second when he cut inside two defenders before firing home from 20 yards and then in the last minute of the half Abreu again ghosted past his marker before firing against the post with Mike Brickhill quickest to react to stroke home the rebound.

As good as Mossley were in the first period they were equally as poor after the break. Fylde, with the wind now at their backs started to close down quicker and despite their footballing inferioriity began to take over using the ever strengthening wind to their advantage.

It was a complete flook that gave Fylde a foothold on the hour when Leon Gierke's floated right wing cross carried in the wind and floated over Mossley keeper's Parisi's head and into the net.

In the 73rd minute Fylde scored a second when Parisi's clearance was held up in the wind and Ryan Dodd fired into an empty net from 30 yards.

The home side now found some belief and it became apparent that Mossley were struggling with anything in the air fired into the Mossley box.

A long throw in from the right made it 4-3 when Ricardo Egingi fired home as Mossley again failed to clear their lines and Fylde's comeback was completed in the 89th minute when a right wing corner was scrambled home by Mike Nolan as Mossley again struggled with the floated ball into the box.

Mossley had a couple of chances to regain the lead in stoppage time but home keeper Stephenson saved from Kyle McDonagh and Andy McKernon.
