A makeshift Mossley side including three debutants struggled to make headway in this feisty reserve team 'derby' fixture against neighbours Stalybridge Celtic at Seel Park on Thursday night and succumbed to a 0-2 reverse.

Mossley had opened brightly and looked like taking an early lead with half chances for Heap, Constantine and Tosum all going close.

Celtic's side was full of pace and energy and although as a team they lacked discipline they were a little quicker to the ball as the game progressed.

The visitors began to dominate proceedings and took the lead on the stroke of half time when Aristotle Kassa-Joa fired home through a crowded Mossley box.

Mossley had a great chance to equalise when Abadaki broke free of his marker and set up Alex Byrne, but the Mossley youth team skipper fired wide.

The visitors continued to control the game after the break and doubled the lead on 59 minutes when a flat footed Mosslye defence was caughht out by Dennis Sheriff who was able to walk the ball around Nick Ashley and slot into an empty net.

There was no way back for Mossley after this but as the game approached it's climax, a game that had bubbled under throughout finally boiled over and a mass brawl saw Mossley's Nathan Tosum and Celtic's Glenn Belezika red carded.
