Mossley fielded a side made up of members of all three of the club's teams for this friendly match at Abbey Hey on Tuesday night.

Facing a full strength Abbey side who are flying high in Division One of the NWCL it was always going to be a stern test and so it proved, with the home side running out winners in an entertaining eight goal contest.

Mossley took the lead thanks to a Jordan Cuff solo effort on 20 minutes but went in at the break behind as a header from Sean Devlin and a cool finish by the prolific Martin Pilkington gave Abbey the half time lead.

On loan Mossley midfielder Alex Byrne added Abbey's third goal early in the second half and ex Mossley youth teamer Sam Jones made it 4-1 soon after.

Cuff scored his second after good work by Ben Fallows and Saul Henderson set him up but Abbey reopened the three goal cushion when another former Mossley youth teamer, Wes Harney scored from close range.

Goal of the night went to Jordan Cuff who completed his hat-trick with a delightful chipped effort, but it was the home side who had generally shown greater goalscoring instinct and deserved their 5-3 victory over what was after all a somewhat experimental Mossley line up.
