A cobbled together Mossley second string deserved better than the late narrow defeat inflicted by full timers Fleetwood Town at a windswept Blackpool Wren Rovers ground on Thursday night.

Mossley took the game to their more experienced hosts in the first half and took a deserved lead on 20 minutes when Josh Higgins cut in from the left to confidenbtly slot home a well taken goal. Mossley dominated possession in the first period but were unable to add to their narrow advantage and in the end paid the price for not taking their chances.

Fleetwood reversed the first half trend after the break and equalised through centre forward Joe Higgins who forced the ball home in a goalmouth scramble on 70 minutes.

The game looked destined for a draw but Fleetwood wrestled the points in the lat minute. A cross from the right wasn't cleared and home skipper Liam Wynn bundled the ball over the line for a scrappy winning goal.
