Mossley Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at Manchester League Springhead on Thursday evening.

The game was played at a high tempo but was inevitably a scrappy affair on a bumpy uneven surface at Springhead's Ashfield Crescent ground.

Chances were few for either side with three of the four goals on the evening coming from set pieces.

Mossley took the lead in the 25th minute when Jay Walcott was fouled around 22 yards out and Lee Rick (playing for the ressies due to his unavailability for the Shepshed trip on Saturday) stepped up to drive the free kick past the wall and a static goalkeeper into the top corner.

Springhead equalised early in the second half when the trialist central defender brought down a Springhead forward in a similar position and the free kick was fired into the bottom left corner beyond the Mossley keeper's despairing dive.

The home side edged in front when the Mossley keeper brought down a Springhead forward for a clear penalty. The spot kick was dispatched into the bottom corner.

Mossley's equaliser came ten minutes from time when Omar McKenzie was sent scampering clear and he was able to lob the ball over the converging keeper and defender from the right corner of the box and into the home net.
