Mossley Women recovered from a two goal deficit to earn a point against a strong Rochdale Ladies side at Seel Park on Sunday thanks to a fine Kenzie Bentley hat-trick.
The Lily's prolific scorer Bentley gave Mossley the early lead but that was soon cancelled out by a Rochdale equaliser.
The remainder of the first half was largely uneventful with the game compresed in midfield as both sides appeared to want to play on the breakaway, which more or less cancelled each other out.
The second half saw Rochdale quickly take control and the visitors took the lead just three minutes in as a corner from Mossley's left wing was headed home at the near post.
Worse was to follow as on 56 minutes a free kick from deep on Mossley's right was headed home from close range after Mossley failed to deal with the danger.
Rochdale looked like they were going to run away with and came close soon after when an effort came back off the woodwork. However, the Lily's showed a lot of character in staging a late rally that inecitably earned a point that could have been three.
The lively Kenzie Bentley made it 2-3 on 77 minutes and two minutes later drew Mossley level with another sweet finish to complete a superb hat-trick.
The Lily's dominated the closing exchanges but couldn't quite force a winner as the spoils were shared in what was an edgy and thoroughly entertaining match between rival teams who clearly have no liking for each other.
