Mossley AFC Women gave an excellent performance to win the local 'derby' against an Ashton United ladies team that contained several former Mossley players.

Derby day with added spice ageanst a Ashton United with Mossley s former manager and 8 former players . Mossley had something to prove and boy did they do that with an outstanding team performance.

Mossley dominated the game and would have been out of sight but for 3 brilliant saves by the Ashton keeper. But on 44 minutes finally Mossley opening the scoring when Kenzie Bentley's inch perfect cross was met with an ice cool finish from Jess Graham. That was how the half ended .

The second half continued the same way until on 59 minutes Ashton United's Akhtar scored from distance.

This seem to spark Mossley to be even more attacking, and Mossley retook the lead on 68 minutes from a 40 yard free kick from Kiera McNamara.

Then just 2 minutes later the brilliant Jess Graham weaved her way through the Ashton defence before putting the ball in the bottom corner sparking huge celebrations.

In trying to kill the game off Mossley were then caught on the break with Akhtar scoring after Dickin s great save .

Would Mossley then sit back and try and hold on not a chance they went for the 4th and when goal machine Kenzie Bentley cut inside on her right foot on the edge of the area there was only one place it was going, top corner, game over! Ashton United 2 Mossley 4.

As the final whistle blew you could see how good the team spirit is as everyone celebrated the win. 'Sweet Caroline' was belted out in the changing room. Nothing better than a derby day win.

Manager Dame Blackshaw noted, "What a night, what a team performance, we are so together. The team spirit is incredible you've just got to love this club."
