Mossley Women played their first pre season game on Sunday and came away with a highly creditable 1-1 draw against an Accrington Stanley team two tiers above them.
First half Mossley never really got going and went in 1-0 down, but in the second half Mossley pressed brilliantly and after hitting the woodwork 3 times finally equalised in the 90th minute when Johara Akhtar on her debut calmly scored from close range.
Manager Dame Blackshaw commented, "Good run out against a very good team. Really happy with were we are at the moment and will get better and stronger as the weeks go on. We've a much stronger squad this season despite losing record scorer Kenzie Bentley to Stockport County we've added some quality players."
