Mossley's all conquering youth team reached their second final on Sunday with a hard fought extra time victory over a stubborn Altrincham side at Seel Park.

The Lilywhites dominated the game despite going behind to a Theo Kidd goal in the 19th minute. This after Mossley had controlled the opening stages of the game.

With Alex Byrne and Ben McNamara controlling the midfield and pinging the passes around, the Mossley wide men Joe Heap and Jordan Cuff were able to cause a certain amount of havoc down the flanks with Heap in particular a thorn in Alty's collective side throughout.

Mossley deservedly equalised in the 35th minute when Heap fired through the keeper's legs from ten yards after the visitors failed to clear a Mossley set piece.

Heap was unlucky not to give Mossley the lead when a typical mazy dribble took him past four defenders but the fifth got the block in and the chance was gone.

Mossley continued to dominate in the second half but the ball wouldn't find the Alty net and there were some tired legs going into extra time. However, it was Mossley who came out the strongest and Alex Byrne gave Mossley the lead five minutes into the extra period with a superb solo goal, beating defenders with a turn and a flick before looping a great shot into the top corner.

The game was stitched up two minutes from the end of the extra thirty when Cuff cut along the right dead ball line and pulled the ball back for substitute Kyle McDonagh to rap home from twelve yards.

Mossley will now meet Morecambe in the final at Ashton Athletic FC on Sunday 1st May (2.30pm).
