On Sunday the youth team travelled to neighbours Curzon Ashton for a North West Youth Alliance league game. Following on from the previous weeks disappointing first league defeat against lowly Nantwich, Mossley started brightly and passed the ball about with confidence. However, for all their domination, they failed to threaten in the final third, with chances in the first half being minimal.

With Mossley failing to take advantage of the possession they were enjoying, Curzon threaten on several occasions, on the break, striking the bar on 38 minuets.

Mossley made 2 changes at half time with, Ryan Smith coming on for the injured Tom Clarke and Kyle McDonagh coming on for Ben McNamara who suffered a suspected dislocated thumb.

From the restart Mossley again dominated but lacked urgency all over the pitch and for 15 minuets continued to tread water. On 60 minuets Wayne Gordon replace Antony Dorney with Alex Chesters moving into midfield and Alex Byrne taking a more forward role. It was the introduction of Chesters into the midfield that seemed to spark Mossley into gear with his energy and urgency. Joe Heap was know seeing more of the ball and was causing the home sides defence no end of problems.

The break through came on 68 minuets when Heap released Andy McKernon down the left flank who sent over a dangerous cross which fortuitously sailed over the Curzon keepers head and into the corner.

Chances for Mossley now began to come thick and fast with Heap continuing to terrorise the home defence and Chesters driving the away team forward. On 74 minuets Heap doubled Mossley's advantage when he cut inside from the left and fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner of the Curzon goal and the put the game to bed in the 79 minuet when he fired in from close range.
