Mossley took the spoils against neighbours Curzon Ashton at a sunny Seel Park on Easter Sunday but did it the hard way having to come from behind in energy sapping conditions.

Mossley enjoyed the lions share of possession throughout but were hit in the 13th minute when right back Ryan Smith went in for a challenge and remained prone. The unlucky youngster who had only recently returned to the side following injury was taken to hospital in an ambulance with a serious looking knee injury. Sam Rathbone replaced Smith with Kyle McDonagh switching to right back.

Mossley finally took the lead their play merited when Joe Heap fired home on 42 minutes but were pegged back on the stroke of half time when a rare defensive misunderstanding allowed Jordan Thompson the opportunity to equalise.

Mossley were further rocked five minutes after the interval when Thompson doubled his and Curzon's tally to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage.

This exceptional young Mossley side refused to capitulate to their hard working neighbours though and restored parity in the 63rd minute when Alex Byrne fired home from ten yards.

The game swung from end to end but Mossley central defenders Alex Chesters and Miko Lewis were in commanding form and Curzon's scoring opportunites were severely limited.

Not so Mossley who finished much the stronger. Joe Heap edged the Lilywhites in front with another well taken goal in the 78th minute and Heap completed his hat-trick, taking his youth team tally to 29 for the season, in the last minute to see Mossley safely cellect the three points.
