Mossley’s rampant Youth Team rattled home another four goals to see off the challenge of neighbours Curzon Ashton in this 1st Round tie in the North West Youth Alliance Premier Division Cup.

Mossley put heavy pressure on the visitors from the off and created numerous chances but found giant Curzon stopper Matthew Green in fine form and he made several good saves as the game became compressed in and around the Curzon box.

Mossley finally made the breakthrough in the 22nd minute when Joe Heap slipped his marker to slot the ball under the diving Green.

The lead was short lived though, as Curzon’s best player on the day Jordan Wright scored with a dipping angled shot from 25 yards.

Mossley regained the lead in the 31st minute. Man of the Match Andy McKernon played a superb one two with Antony Dorney and sped past the last defender to crash the ball home from ten yards.

Mossley wasted several more chances to increase the lead before the interval but a tendency to over-elaborate meant there was to be no further scoring before the break.

Curzon came on strongly after the break and gained some impetus that saw Nick Howard called into impressive action making a couple of excellent saves to deny the dangerous Wright and Sennon Elliott.

After wasting a couple of chances on the break Mossley finally extended their lead with two goals in the space of a minute, both extremely well taken by the ever tricky Antony Dorney.

Curzon weren’t quite finished though and Jordan Wright gave an air of respectability to the score when he crashed home an unstoppable 25 yard drive a couple of minutes from time.
