The Mossley youth team won it's opening match in the UMBRO Tournament at Keele University beating Long Eaton United who's first team compete in the Northern Counties East League.

From the kick off Mossley took control with Conor Hampson and Alex Byrne in total control of the midfield. Mossley created several chances before Brad Byrne broke the deadlock after 25mins in a move that included a smart interchange of passing between Joe Heap and Antony Dorney.

The chances continued to come and go without Mossley increasing their lead and went in at half time 1-0 to the good.

The second half followed the same format as the first with Long Eaton struggling to get a foot hold on the game. Nathan Martin who had replaced Antony Dorney at half time caused the Midlands club numerous problems down Mossley's left flank with Brad Byrne continuing to torment the Long Eaton defence.

It was only a matter of time before the second came and again it came courtesy of Brad Byrne. Reece Hobson made a strong run from the left back position through the heart of Long Eaton's midfield which drew both centre backs allowing Hobson to slip a simple pass through to Brad Byrne to finish.

The third came courtesy of Nathan Martin, who had the simplest of chances to slide the ball into an empty net following a good save from the keeper.
