Mossley's youth team reached the third cup final of their debut season with a 3-0 victory over Marine 'B' at Seel Park on Sunday afternoon.

The game wasn't without it's difficulties though as a below par Mossley huffed and puffed for the most part against a solid and resilient young Marine side.

Marine enjoyed the majority of possession but Mossley were a bigger goal threat throughout but had to wait until late in the game to seal the result in what was a closer game than the scoreline suggests.

Mossley had a great chance early on when Wes Harney burst clear but Marine keeper Jordan Sumner blocked his effort which rebounded to Alex Byrne who then fired over with the goal gaping.

Mossley's final ball was disappointing with several players looking worse for wear after their recent hectic spell of games.

Marine never created anything more than half chances with Nick Howard handling impeccably and Alex Chesters and Miko Lewis marshalling the defence extremely well.

Mossley finally broke the deadlock and Marine hearts in the 65th minute when Fabio Abreu found space on the right and rifled an unstoppable shot past Sumner from 20 yards. The goal knocked the stuffing out of the visitors and they rarely threatened thereafter.

Mossley wrapped up the win in the last few minutes. First substitute Sam Jones crossed low from the left for Fabio Abreu to knock home his second from close range and then Tom Clarke completed the scoring when he fired home from the edge of the box after a neat Mossley move.

Mossley will now play Curzon Ashton in the final at Ashton Athletic FC on Sunday 8th May (2.30pm).
