Mossley gave a terrific battling performance to take the points at League leaders FC United on Sunday in what was an incredibly high tempo game.

Mossley got off to a great start when early pressure brought a penalty for hand ball in only the 4th minute. Omar McKenzie sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

On ten minutes Mossley doubled their lead. Man of the Match Andy McKernon found Adam Bezzina and the Mossley striker scored a well taken goal firing home from fifteen yards.

The game was nip and tuck and James Dean did well to keep out a United shot. The Mossley keeper then got a bang to the head but played on bravely despite suffering blurred vision in his right eye.

Mossley created numerous chances to increase the lead but United defended well though were lucky to be only two goals down at the interval.

The second half was a more end to end affair but both sides were wasteful with the few half chances that came their way.

United pulled a goal back through substitute Hassall with five minutes remaining but Mossley held on to earn a fine victory.
