With only four players from last seasons youth team squad still eligible for this season it was very much a new look youth team who took to the pitch for this preseason friendly against New Mills.

It took the youngsters 20 minuets or so to settle but once they did they dominated proceedings. Captain Alex Chesters was immense at the back with Tom Ingham who made his first team debut just 24 hours earlier solid at right back. Omar McKenzie had an outstanding first half cutting in from the right on numerous occasions but was unable to finish and was unlucky to see a shot cannon off the bar after 30 minutes.

With the front two of Nat Martin and Prince Amadin tormenting the home teams defence it seemed only a matter of time before Mossley would break the deadlock. However, the breakthrough didn't come until 5 minutes into the second half.

Adam Bezzina who had replaced the excellent Amadin at the interval pounced when the home teams keeper could only parry a fierce free kick from Jordon Rutter. Bezzina doubled his account on 53 minuets, finishing from close range.

The home side pulled a goal back on 66 minutes when a long ball over the top of napping Mossley back four was dispatched by the homes sides striker.

From the restart the youngsters upped the pace of the game and went close on numerous occasions through Justin Schall, Adam Marsden, Bezzina and Andy McKernon.

The game was made safe on 79 minuets when Daniaal Ali who had performed particularly well in the centre of midfield netted at the far post following good work down the left from Schall and Bezzina. Ali could have doubled his tally on 86 minuets but blazed over from 8 yards out.

A really good performance this from the new look Youth Team will many positives to take from the game.
