A win in this game against New Mills would have lifted Mossley up to third place in the NWYA but the Lilywhites youngsters all mbut blew their chances of runners up spot in the League this season with a poor performance.

New Mills were generally quicker to the ball, were more threatening in attack and well worth their victory. Having said that, had Adam Bezzina, Omar McKenzie and Andy McKernon converted the good chances that came their way in the opening period it might have been a different story in what was a more even first half.

The visitors took the lead in the 37th minute. The tricky Elliott Goodwin hung a high cross from the right, Mossley keeper Curtis Hickman misjudged the flight and the ball fell for ex Mossley youth teamer Sam Rathbone to nod home from close range despite Callum Harkin's best attempts to clear off the line.

Mossley made a double substitution at half time with Schall and Fitton replacing Thomas and Street but it was the Millers who went on to dominate after the break.

Mossley faced a string of excellent but unconverted crosses from the right wing by the elusive Goodwin before the visitors doubled their advantage in the 70th minute when Matthew Chapman fired home after some more sloppy Mossley defending.

Ryan McNee headed against the bar for Mossley but it was New Mills who were comfortably controlling the game. Jaya Cawthorne replaced Hildersley with ten minutes remaining and Mossley scored almost immediately with Omar McKenzie slotting home from fifteen yards but the Millers comfortably held out to take the points.
