The youth team put in an excellent performance to over come a very strong Warrington side at Cantilever Park on Wednesday night.

Warrington fresh from putting 6 past reigning champions FC United in their previous fixture started the stronger, but as the half wore on, Mossley began to more than match the home team's work rate.

Saul Henderson had the best of the first half chances for Mossley but failed to really test Gordon in Warrington goal with Curtis Hickman never really tested in the Mossley goal.

The second half started very much like the first with the home team setting the early pace. Their early pressure very nearly paid off when the dangerous Glass hitting a 20 yard screamer that smashed against the cross bar. Warrington continued to press and on 51 minutes took the lead. Bakkor played the ball onto the edge of the Mossley area and continued his run unchecked by the static Mossley midfield, on receipt of the return pass his pace took him into the away teams area were he made no mistake with his finish.

From the restart the goal seemed to spur Mossley into life and from there on in took control of the game. Jake Hibbs, Ross Hildersley and captain Andy McKernon bossed the midfield and began to turn the screw on the home team.

The introduction of top scorer Adam Bezzina increased the pressure on Warrington and on 73 minutes Mossley got the equaliser they deserved. Hildersley put Bezzina through only to be pulled down by the home teams captain Chambers. Bezzina got to his feet dusted himself down and duly dispatched the spot kick in the bottom corner of the Warrington goal.

Mossley were now pushing hard for the winner which seemed would not come but up stepped Bezzina again in the second minute of injury time to fire in from the edge of the area to give the away team a much deserved win.

This was a very excellent result for a very young youth team who contained 5 players, 15 years old and 4 players who will still be eligible next season against an older experienced Warrington team who have contained several players with 1st team experience this season.

With the end of the season looming the youth team have just hit a run of form at the right moment with a semi final coming up against FC United of Manchester and a possible top three finish.
