In the cold and rainy hills of Mossley the Academy kicked off for their first home game of the season.
There was only one change by manager Lee Murphy from last weeks win which saw Carlos De Sa come in for the injured Antonio Din Chin .
The two sides paid respect by having a minute silence for the young Leek Town player who had sadly passed away the night before .
As the game kicked off, Mossley saw most of the ball for the first 20 minutes but then Sutton broke away and had two men over than the Mossley defence. Winger Spence put a ball across the penalty area and that saw Jordan Clement unmarked at the back post for a simple tap in .
The goal was a wake up call for the home as they stepped up the pressure and were rewarded with a debut goal from Carlos De Sa. A beautiful through ball form Adam El Barnossi-Iveson to De Sa saw the striker take his chance and placed it under the keepers arms 1-1.
Sutton soon went ahead when Mossley failed to clear their lines and winger Dante Spence was in on goal and placed the ball past the goalkeeper just before the end of the first half.
Out for the second half, Mossley stepped up the pressure but were soon undone as a teasing ball was played behind the back of the left back for Yasin Peart to go through on goal and smash in Sutton's third of the day for 3-1 Sutton.
Mossley soon got back in the game as the quick feet of Prince Osusu was too good for the centre back resulting in the defender bringing him down for a penalty to Mossley . Owusu stepped up and fired Mossley to a second goal of the day, game on!
Mossley again stepped up the pressure but it just wasn't enough as Sutton saw the game out ending in a close defeat for the Academy in the first League home game of the season.
