Ready for Radcliffe

19/08/08

Mossley begin their home campaign tonight with the visit of Radcliffe Borough.

With Phil Charnock and Simon Wood missing through injury on Saturday and Daryl Weston suspended the squad was hit further on Saturday when Nick Challinor received concussion following an accidental collision with Liam Higginbotham. Challinor is unlikely to figure tonight, meaning at least one change from Saturday's winning team! Neither Charnock or Wood are expected to be fit for tonight while Weston still has two games of his three match ban to go!

Radcliffe began their season on Saturday with a 2-0 home defeat by Ossett ALbion and will be keen to bounce back feeling that they were unlucky not to get something out of that game after a promising performance.

Boro's website reports that, "There was a slight concern over Captain Simon Kelly but he will be fit to lead possibly an unchanged team against Mossley, "In non-league football you always have to wait until the last parts of the working day to ensure everyone is available, but if they are it is possible we will go in with an unchanged side." Said the Director of Football Gerry Luczka. The game ended 2-2 at Seel park last season and Luczka is keen to get the first points on the table as quickly as possible, "Playing at Mossley is never easy and of course they will be full of confidence from their opening day victory at Clitheroe, but we have some good players at the club and are confident ourselves we need it to break for us in front of goal and if it does so long as our performances continues the results will happen."

Still missing from the 'Boro' line up is last season's top goalscorer Steve Howson who notched 36 goals, Tony Whealing and Ben Manning who are away and Steve Hill and Phil Priestley both recovering from injury, "Missing 'Howsey' obviously has an effect as any team would have if they missed their top goalscorer, but it gives other players an opportunity and young players like Tom Brooks and Tom Rutter will gain valuable experience as the season progresses and both are patient and know what we are looking for, from them both this season."

The match kicks off at 7.45pm.
